2016 CSSC Pike Angling Championship
The 2016 CSSC National Pike Angling Championship match took place on
Thursday 3rd November 2016 at Pentney Lakes, near Kings Lynn,
Norfolk.
The match was to be fished on two separate lakes at the venue, and fishing
was from 9.30am to 4.30pm with fourteen anglers turning up to compete in
the "CSSC Individual Pike Angling Championship" and the "CSSC
Pike Angling Pairs Championship".
Expectations were high as most anglers arrived at the agreed meeting
time of 8.15am at the fishery for the draw and as soon as the draw for
individual pegs and the pairs had taken place, the anglers quickly made
their way to their respective pegs to fish the match.
The results of the 2016 Individual Championships were as follows:-
1st – Jerry Bolus 3 fish @ 23lbs
13ozs
2nd – Iain Rickerby 2 fish @ 15lbs 4ozs
3rd – Gary Boast 1 fish @
2lbs 0ozs
The result of the 2016 CSSC Pike Championship Pairs Competition were:-
1st Jerry Bolus & Robin Bartsch
3 fish for 23lbs 13ozs
2nd Iain Rickerby & Nik Pinder
2 fish for 15lbs 4ozs
3rd Gary Boast & Mitch
Johnson 1 fish for
2lbs 0ozs
Everyone said that they enjoyed the fishing and it was good to see that
there were two double figure fish caught, biggest on the day was a nice
fish of 11lbs 9ozs by Jerry Bolus, closely followed by a fine specimen of
10lbs 0ozs by Iain Rickerby.
Although everyone said they enjoyed the venue, I always ask if anyone has
any suggestions to fish the event on another water, and it was suggested
that I consider holding next year's event at Eyebrook reservoir. Another
venue suggested was Rudyard Fishery. I will let you know which venue will
be chosen after I have made enquiries with both these fisheries in the new
year.
I would like to thank Rebecca Brand from CSSC Event Organising Team
and the CSSC Angling Council for their help and support in organising this
competition.
I would especially like to thank Jim North and the CSSC Angling Council
for supplying and awarding the trophies and Chris Neden for his help with
the pegging.
Finally I would like to thank all the anglers that turned up to compete
and helped to make this an enjoyable day's fishing. Hope to see you all
again next year.
