2018 CSSC National Pike Angling Championship

The 2018 CSSC National Pike Angling Championship match took place on Thursday 1st November 2018 at Pentney Lakes, nr. Kings Lynn, Norfolk.

On the day, fifteen anglers turned up to compete in the "CSSC Individual Pike Angling Championship" and the "CSSC Pike Angling Pairs Championship", with the match being fished from 9.30am to 4.30pm and expectations were high as the anglers arrived early at the fishery.

Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us and it rained from first thing in the morning and was still raining when we packed up.

At the draw, each of the competitors received a copy of the rules, a copy of the CSSC Code of Conduct and a catch card, before setting off to various spots around the lakes to fish the match.

It was nice to see some new faces this year and I would like say welcome to Craig Smith, Steve Kilby and Neil Cafferty and I want to especially thank the usual suspects that take the time to compete in this event every year

Everyone said that they enjoyed the fishing, with some anglers preferring to fish 2 deadbait rods, while others varied their options and fished one deadbait and one lure rod. Eight out of the 15 anglers caught fish.

The results of the 2018 CSSC Individual Pike Angling Championship were:-

1st Barry Davies 13lb 6oz

2nd Steve Kilby 7lb 8oz

3rd John Downing 7lb 0oz

The results of the 2018 CSSC Pike Angling Team Pairs Championship were:-

1st Barry Davies and John Downing 20lb 6oz

2nd Steve Kilby and Brian Corner 9lb 0oz

3rd Jerry Bolus and Robin Bartsch 5lb 0oz

I would like to thank Hannah Wootten from the CSSC Event Organising Team and the CSSC Angling Council for their help and support in organising this competition and supplying the trophies.

I would especially like to thank Jim North for attending the event and taking photographs of the trophy’s being awarded to the winning competitors and Chris Neden for his help with the pegging and checking the results.

Finally I would like to thank all of the anglers that turned up to complete and helped to make this an enjoyable days fishing. Hope to see you all again next year.
