2012 - Thursday 15th November - Marine Parade, Hythe, Kent 

 Yet another one of those instances when the saying "you should have been here yesterday" applied, The day before the final the sun was shining, there was a slight breeze but the water was cloudy, evidence of a previous blow. Those competitors who practised that day reported plenty of whiting and dabs. The day of the final struggled to dawn due to very heavy mist cloaking the town and surrounding hills. There was a slight breeze but the water had cleared over night. The first part of the tide produced few fish and it was not until half way through the match when the tide turned that a few more fish started being caught. However the clear water kept them at long range and only those proficient casters were able to reach them.

A proposal that a rule be introduced that all matches should include at least one hour of darkness was received from martin Bradshaw (Y) and discussed at the post presentation forum. It was agreed that a strict rule would not always be practical but the Council agreed to consider this according to venue.

 Next year's final will be fished on the River Tay estuary at Dundee on 17th October.

Please note that accommodation for these finals is booked at least a year in advance and numbers are based on the regional teams that we know will be taking part. If you want to bring your partner or make the event a family holiday you must contact the angling council first, do not approach the hotel.

Scoring is total number of position points, where first in zone gets one point and last a possible twelve, ie. three zone wins would give a team total of 3. If a team has only two members then they will be credited 12 points for the missing team member.
