2014 - Thursday 13th November - Otterspool, Liverpool 

 A very successful final with almost everybody catching fish, which included flounder, dab, codling, eel, rockling and whiting. The venue, as you can see from the picture gallery, was very comfortable with free parking not far away. Longest fish was a
50 centimetre codling for Graham land (W). Congratulations to Nigel Conlon (NW) for a very fine effort as top individual, which was maybe to be expected as this is his local patch, our thanks to Nigel for arranging the pegging.

Congratulations to the Welsh team, a very deserved win with all three team members in the top ten individuals. At the presentation they dedicated their win to Simon Clargo (centre in picture below), a member of the winning team last year, who died in July due to a massive fatal heart attack whilst still in his early forties.
                      

Other sad news received was that Raymond Irving (Sc) was found dead in his house in September having suffered from a ruptured aneurysm (seen below at the 2011 final at Aldeburgh, seated on the nearest boat dressed in green with his sleeves rolled up and elbow resting on the pile of rods),

 Next year's final will be fished on the Slapton Sands, Devon on 15th October 2015.

Please note that accommodation for these finals is booked at least a year in advance and numbers are based on the regional teams that we know will be taking part. If you want to bring your partner or make the event a family holiday you must contact the angling council first, do not approach the hotel.

Scoring is total number of position points, where first in zone gets one point and last a possible twelve, ie. three zone wins would give a team total of 3. If a team has only two members then they will be credited 12 points for the missing team member.
