2019 - Friday 1st November - Deal, Kent 

 This year's shore final was fished on the east facing steep shingle beach at Deal, Kent. With a Southerly wind forecast and frequent groynes running into the sea, each competitor was given plenty of room on their pegs to avoid crossed lines and snagging the groynes. As expected Whiting were the main species caught but a few people also targeted the Lesser Spotted Dogfish which were there to be caught particularly early in the competition. A few Dabs and Pouting were also taken.

Deal provided a fair venue with all competitors catching fish despite inclement weather, particularly in the first half of the competition with the Southerly wind and constant rain. However, it was noticeable from the results that the better catches of fish were taken to the South of the fishing area and the trend was for less fish to be taken the further North you fished. The top three individual best catches were all caught in zone C which was the most Southerly zone.

After all the catch cards were checked and the results worked out, the champions were the Northern team with two zone winners and a fourth. Special mention goes to Dave Grieve who won his zone for the third final running.

 Next year's final will be fished in Otterspool, Liverpool on Friday 20th November 2020.

Please note that accommodation for these finals is booked at least a year in advance and numbers are based on the regional teams that we know will be taking part. If you want to bring your partner or make the event a family holiday you must contact the angling council first, do not approach the hotel.

Scoring is total number of position points, where first in zone gets one point and last a possible eleven, ie. three zone wins would give a team total of 3. If a team has only two members then they will be credited 12 points for the missing team member. No fish caught gets that competitor twelve points.
