2021 - Friday 26th November - Otterspool, Liverpool.

The 2021 Shore Final coincided with the arrival of Storm Arwen so all thirty-three competitors were prepared for difficult conditions.

On arrival at Otterspool Promenade the anglers were greeted with a strong and gusty crosswind from the west and some heavy showers. Although at times unpleasant, the conditions did not prevent fish being caught and Otterspool provided a productive and very safe venue with all anglers catching fish. The main danger seemed to be to some of the beach umbrellas and shelters that were erected.

 Most of the fish caught were small Codling and Whiting with a few rockling, a couple of Thornback Rays,  lesser spotted dogfish, a Pouting and a Conger Eel. Fishing varied from peg to peg, both for numbers of fish available and successful tactics and baits. Even the most productive of pegs experienced flurries of activity and then quiet periods.

 Well done to Scotland, our 2021 National Shore Champions, for a good all round team performance and thanks to the Liner Hotel, Liverpool for accommodation and its use as headquarters for the event.

 Next year's final will be fished in Slapton Sands on Friday 21st October 2022.

Please note that accommodation for these finals is booked at least a year in advance and numbers are based on the regional teams that we know will be taking part. If you want to bring your partner or make the event a family holiday you must contact the angling council first, do not approach the hotel.

Scoring is total number of position points, where first in zone gets one point and last a possible eleven, ie. three zone wins would give a team total of 3. If a team has only two members then they will be credited 12 points for the missing team member. No fish caught gets that competitor twelve points.
